09/23/05 –Senior Meghann McCormick (Liverpool, N.Y.) and junior Selima Berisha (Bellevue, Wash.) each scored and registered an assist for Long Island University in a 3-0 triumph over Temple at LIU Field on Friday evening.

Berisha scored in the 59th minutes for the Blackbirds (4-4). Receiving a pass on the left side from McCormick, Berisha caught Owls goalkeeper Tiffany Kasunich off-guard. Berisha slipped past the approaching goalie, netting her team-leading third goal of the season.

McCormick provided the insurance marker in the 81st minute, helping LIU halt a three game skid. The midfielder took a feed from Berisha and launched a shot from 15 yards for her first goal of the year. Freshman Christina O’Connor (Venetia, Pa.) assisted on the play.

Junior Erica Chong (Hilo, Hawaii) scored her first collegiate goal less than three minutes later. The midfielder took a pass in the center from Allison Andreano (Denville, N.J.) and drilled a shot into the left corner of the box.

The Blackbirds owned a 20-4 edge in shots that included a 9-1 margin after intermission. Three of Temple’s four attempts came in the first four minutes of the contest.

LIU returns to action Sunday, September 25 hosting Iona at 1:00 p.m.
