9/30/05 -- Long Island University opened its Northeast Conference season with a 1-0 defeat on the road Friday against preseason favorite Central Connecticut State. Junior Jess McCavanagh scored the game’s only goal off a feed from senior Jen Frisch in the 23rd minute.

McCavanagh headed in her fourth goal of the season at the 22:36 mark to put CCSU up 1-0. The Blackbirds were outshot, 13-6, in the contest.

Junior Stephanie Kansky made four saves for the Blackbirds (5-5).
