9/16/05 -- Sophomore forward Jodie Taylor, the Pac-10's reigning Freshman of the Year, scored twice to lift #23 Oregon State past Long Island University, 3-1 in the second game of the OSU Nike Invitational on Friday.

Taylor tallied her first score at the 4:50 mark of the first half, bringing LIU goalie Felicia Amaral (Oxford, Mass.) out of the box. She dribbled past Amarel, scoring on the right side.

The Blackbirds (3-3) knotted the contest in the 22nd minute of a beautiful break downfield. Junior midfielder Allie Andreano (Denville, N.J.) played a a through ball to classmate Selima Berisha (Belluvue, Wash.), who took the ball on the right side of the box. She crossed just across the front of the goalmouth to senior forward Jackie McCormick (Liverpool, N.Y.) who tapped it in.

The Beavers (5-1) took the lead over for good in the 34th minute. Taylor, brought down in the box, was awarded a penalty kick which she coverted for the 2-1 lead. OSU added another tally in the 61st minute for the final score.

Long Island takes on Washington State (4-2) on Sunday, September 18 in the closing round of the Nike Invitational.
