10/2/05 -- Long Island University picked up its first conference win of the season, a 3-0 blanking of Quinnipiac on Sunday afternoon.

The Blackbirds (6-5, 1-1 NEC) wasted no time getting on the board, as senior Jackie McCormick (Liverpool, N.Y.) set up twin sister Meghann McCormick (Liverpool, N.Y.) for the game's first goal less than five minutes into the contest.

McCormick's shot came just outside the box on the left-hand side and found the top-right corner of the net over the outstretched arms of Bobcat goalie Sarah Lusto. LIU outshot Quinnipiac, 15-2, for the game.

Sophomore Catie Black (Southbridge, Mass.) found Erica Chong (Hilo, Hawaii) in front of the net for the Blackbird's second goal just one minute and 23 seconds into the second stanza. The goal was Chong's second of her career and second in four games.

An own-goal by a Quinnipiac defender in the 69th minute pushed the final score to 3-0.

Junior Stephanie Kansky (Bellevue, Wash.) recorded her second win of the season, tallying two saves on the day.

LIU continues conference play at home on Friday, Oct. 7th against Robert Morris at 6:00 p.m.
