10/6/06 -- Junior Caley Troutman (South Park, Pa.) recorded her fourth and fifth goals of the season as the Long Island University women's soccer team improved to 2-0 in the Northeast Conference with a 3-1 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson on Friday afternoon.

An own goal by the Knights accounted for the Blackbirds' third goal, as they picked up their first road win of the season.

After a scoreless first half, LIU notched the game's first goal in the 65th minute. Senior Christine Gans (Pittsburgh, Pa.) sent a cross into the box and found Troutman, who headed the ball into the upper-left corner of the net.

Less than five minutes later, a corner kick by Gans deflected off an FDU defender for the second goal of the contest.

Troutman picked up Long Island's third goal as she took a corner from fellow classmate Tiffany Dunbar (Naperville, Ill.) and connected for the score.

FDU's Katie Hilder broke up LIU's shutout bid as she scored off a free kick with just seven seconds remaining in the game. Senior Stephanie Kansky (Bellevue, Wash.) recorded four saves to improve to 5-5-1 on the year.

The Blackbirds look for their third straight win as they take on Sacred Heart at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 8.
