9/10/06 -- Long Island University dropped a 4-0 decision to Stanford in women’s soccer action on Sunday afternoon at Yurcak Field. The Blackbirds fall to 2-4 on the year with the set-back.

Neither team found the back of the net nor attempted a shot in the first 20 minutes of action. With 21 minutes on the clock, however, the Cardinals (4-2) struck pay dirt with their first attempt. Junior Lizzy George took a pass from senior Rachel Buehler, heading the ball into the right corner for the 1-0 advantage.

After an LIU miscue put Stanford up by two, freshman Kelley O’Hara fired a 20 yard strike in between the pipes in the 36th minute for a 3-0 lead. They added another tally in the 65th minute for the final score.

The Blackbirds return to action on Wednesday, September 13 traveling to Drexel for a 7:00 p.m. start.
