11/10/06 -- Four different Texas players scored goals as the No. 1 seeded Longhorns defeated the Long Island University women's soccer team, 4-0, in the first round of the NCAA Women's College Cup in Storrs, Conn. on Friday afternoon.

The loss ends the Blackbirds' season with a record of 13-8-1. The 13 victories tied the all-time single season record set last season.

Senior Allison Andreano (Denville, N.J.) led LIU with two shots, including one on goal. Classmate Stephanie Kansky (Bellevue, Wash.) made four saves in the loss.

Long Island hung tough with Texas for the first 18 minutes and registered the game's first corner kick after freshman Aly Hanson (New Milford, N.J.) beat two defenders and had her shot deflected over the goal line.

From there, the Longhorns proved to be too much as they scored three goals over the next 23 minutes to put the game out of reach. Kaitlin Kennedy registered her third season of the season at the 18:41 mark as Texas took a 1-0 lead.

Big XII Tournament Offensive MVP Kelsey Carpenter recorded the Longhorns second goal, her 15th on the year, to put Texas up 2-0.

Less than four minutes later, with 5:00 minutes remaining in the half, Texas scored again as Kasey Moore took a feed from Stephanie Logterman and found the back of the net.

Midfielder Amy Burlington got her third assist of the game just 3:21 into the second half for the Longhorns' final score. Priscilla Fite scored the goal for Texas, who advances to the second round of the Women's College Cup to face the winner of the UConn/Columbia match on Sunday, Nov. 12.
