10/22/04 -- The Long Island University women’s soccer team had its two-game winning streak snapped falling at Robert Morris, 1-0 on Friday afternoon.

In the first half, the teams battled back-and-forth to a scoreless tie. It was an even match with the Colonials (3-11-2, 1-4-1 NEC) holding a 9-8 edge in shots in the first stanza.

The defensive game continued until the 65th minute, when Angela Story dished to Nicole Hilderbrand at the top of the box. She beat goalkeeper Stephanie Kansky (Bellevue, Wash.), giving the Colonials a 1-0 lead.

Kansky registered six saves for the Blackbirds (7-5-1, 4-2-1). Allison Andreano (Denville, N.J.) recorded a team-high five shots and senior Tiffany Clendenning (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) fired three.

The Blackbirds travel to St. Francis (PA) on Sunday, October 24. Match time is set for 2:00 p.m.
