9/12/04 -- Long Island could not overcome an early second-half goal, dropping its third game of the season with a 1-0 setback to Columbia at the NYC Mayor's Cup in Jamaica, N.Y.

The Lions broke the scoreless tie 20 seconds into the second stanza when Shannon Munoz scored off a feed from Meghan Hurlbut.

Junior Jackie McCormick (Liverpool, N.Y.) led the Blackbirds with four shots and sophomore goalkeeper Stephanie Kansky (Bellevue, Wash.) recorded two saves.

LIU travels to Stony Brook on Friday for a 7:00 pm game.
