Women’s Soccer loses to St. John’s, 2-0

9/10/04 -- Long Island dropped a 2-0 decision at St. John’s on Friday night in Jamaica, N.Y. to open the NYC Mayor's Cup.

LIU sophomore forward Selima Berisha (Bellevue, Wash.) had a team-high two shots and classmate Stephanie Kansky (Bellevue, Wash.) registered two saves.

Both teams were held scoreless until Heather Cook tallied off a rebound in the 39th minute. LIU (2-2) kept it close until late in the second half when Holly Ryder notched her second assist as she fed Laura Burlacu, who deflected the ball in off Kansky.

The Blackbirds face Columbia on Sunday at 12:00 in Jamaica, N.Y.
