9/30/05 -- The Long Island University women's tennis registered a 7-0 triumph over St. Peter’s on Friday. It was the Blackbirds first action of the fall season.

LIU won all six singles matches in straight sets, and captured all three doubles matches to pick up its final point.

Senior Krystina Bachner (Penfield, N.Y) competed at the No. 1 singles position and took home a straight-sets victory over Angela Wiggs, 6-4, 6-2. Bachner also paired with freshman Ashley Harvey (Randallstown, Md.) to win the top doubles match, 8-6.

Harvey and fellow freshman Amy Hosotsuji (Toronto, Ontario) made their collegiate debuts with wins in both singles and doubles. The duo combined to lose only four games in singles action.

The Blackbirds return to action on Friday, Oct. 7 at the Fordham Invitational.
