3/16/06 -Long Island University split its final two matches to close its Florida spring break schedule. The Blackbirds (6-6) registered a 6-1 victory over Manhattan before falling to Radford, 4-3 to close the day.

After capturing the doubles point versus the Jaspers, the Blackbirds won single spots two through six to declare the win. Freshman Ashley Harvey continued her impressive first campaign at four singles, rolling to a 6-3, 6-0 triumph.

Classmate Amy Hosotsuji was a winner in the fifth spot with a 6-1, 6-2 win. Senior Claudia Arteaga did not allow her opponent to score a single point, notching a 6-0, 6-0 win in the sixth singles spot.

Against the Highlanders, the outcome came down to the final singles match at No. 6 as Andrea Pertab dropped the hard-fought 7-5, 6-3 decision to Jessica Nixon.

Blackbirds senior Jessica Loose rolled to a 6-3, 6-3 win over Camila Noldin at the top singles position. Harvey saw action at the #2 position, downing Caroline Downs, 6-3, 6-3.

Arteaga also was a victor, beating Ally Spector, 6-2, 6-4 at fourth singles.
