4/7/06 -- Four different women's tennis players put together unblemished matches as Long Island University shutout Wagner, 7-0, for its second consecutive Northeast Conference victory.

Senior Krystina Bachner (Penfield, N.Y.), junior Xenia Roman (Vera Cruz, Mexico) and freshmen Ashley Harvey and Amy Hosotsuji all won their singles matches, 6-0, 6-0. For Harvey, it was her 12th consecutive victory in singles competition.

At No. 1 singles, senior Jessica Loose (Scheessel, Germany) defeated the Seahawks' Megan Owen, 6-0, 6-2. Junior Merve Koksal (Ankara, Turkey) also won in straight sets over Aarti Mahtani, 6-0, 6-1. In all, LIU lost only three games in their six singles matches, and five games overall.

The Blackbirds swept the doubles competition to give the team its final point.

LIU continues its conference slate against Monmouth on Saturday, Apr. 8 at 12:00 p.m.
