10/8/06 -- Senior Merve Koksal (Ankara, Turkey) went a perfect 4-0 at No. 1 singles and doubles as the Long Island University women's tennis team split a pair of dual matches at the Stony Brook Four-Way on Sunday afternoon.

The Blackbirds were edged by the host Sea Wolves, 4-3, before running away with a 7-0 victory over Hofstra in the nightcap.

Koksal won both of her singles matches in straight sets and paired with sophomore Liliana Cortes (Cochabamba, Bolivia) in doubles for the two wins.

Ashley Harvey (Randallstown, Md.) also went undefeated on the day. The sophomore defeated Victoria Vovsha of Stony Brook, 4-6, 7-5, 7-5, then dropped Lauren Moeller of Hofstra in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0.

LIU will continue its fall season at the ITA Regionals at Darmouth University on Oct. 21-22.
