Women's Tennis competes at ITA East Regionals

10/23/04 -- Long Island closed its fall season by competing at the ITA East Regional Championship in Philadelphia, Pa.

Sophomore Merve Koksal (Ankara, Turkey) saw her fall record drop to 6-2 with a first-round loss against Jessica Seibel of Princeton, 6-1, 6-2.

The doubles team of senior Veronica Apostu-Efremov (Bucharest, Romania) and junior Krystina Bachner (Penfield, N.Y.) lost, 8-6, to Kate Williams and Caroline Stanislawski of Pennsylvania. It was the first loss in eight matches this season for the Blackbirds' top doubles tandem.

The tournament only is open to one singles player and one doubles team from each school.
