Obtaining
A Pass to Use Other Libraries: The METRO Card
The METRO card gives you access privileges at academic, business,
hospital, law, and special libraries in the Greater New York Metropolitan
area. It is issued to enable you to use a specific resource and
cannot be issued to give you general use or borrowing privileges.
An
LIU Reference Librarian will issue the METRO card for one-time use
of a specific book or journal in selected libraries only if Long
Island University does not have the desired book or article and
the desired material is not available in a local public library.
You must have the full citation to the material you require and
a specific time and date of when you will go to the host library.
In addition to issuing the METRO card, the Reference Librarian will
call the host library and make arrangements for your admission.
All rules and regulations of the host library should be followed.
