Accounting Education Host Free Leadership Seminar, Friday, March 27, 2009 Business professionals share skills/values needed for success as future business leaders
Brooklyn, N.Y. – Business majors can get tips for success at a free leadership seminar at Long Island University’s Brooklyn Campus that is open to metropolitan area business majors.
“The 4th Annual Leadership Skills Development Program for Business Students – We’re About Success!” seminar will be held on Friday, March 27, 2009, at Long Island University’s Brooklyn Campus in the Schwartz Athletic Center in Metcalfe Hall (corner DeKalb and Flatbush Avenues in downtown Brooklyn), from 8:15 a.m. to 5 p.m.
There will be skills-development workshops and presentations at the daylong seminar, made possible by the School of Business, Public Administration and Information Sciences at Long Island University, the Center for Accounting Education at Howard University’s School of Business in Washington, D.C., and the Maryland-based consulting firm Cook Ross, Inc. The event is sponsored by the Hughes Foundation.
Long Island University alumnus Frank Ross, the director of the Center for Accounting Education and a founding member of the National Association of Black Accountants, will moderate the day’s events along with Leslie Traub, president and CEO of Cook Ross, Inc.
During the lunch portion of the seminar, there will be a panel discussion with professionals from various business fields who will provide insight into their own road to success. “This program is designed to help young professionals identify the challenges, choices and opportunities that may impact their careers,” Mr. Ross explained, noting, “It will guide business students towards success and leadership right from the start.”
Breakfast and lunch are provided. Space is limited and registration is required. Business casual dress is desired.
