Genesis Dance Company to Perform
at Kumble Theater for the Performing Arts
at Long Island University’s Brooklyn Campus, July 25-26

Brooklyn, N.Y. – Breathtaking and inspirational, Genesis Dance Company will celebrate its 2009 performance season, “One Moment/Endless Sands/ Intense Reflections,” at Long Island University’s Kumble Theater for the Performing Arts.

The talented dancers of Genesis Dance Company will perform in works by Kyle Abraham, Karen L. Arceneaux and Astrid von Ussar that are physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually distinct and challenging.

Performances will be held on Saturday-Sunday, July 25-26, at 7:30 p.m. at the Kumble Theater, located at the University’s Brooklyn Campus on the corner of DeKalb and Flatbush avenues in downtown Brooklyn. Tickets are $35 for Saturday’s opening night gala, with pre-show reception from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and post-performance dessert; $20 at the door for Saturday and Sunday performances only; and $15 in advance.

On a mission to leave an indelible mark in the community and to make the arts accessible to those who would otherwise not have the opportunity, Genesis Dance Company will hold an intensive in July at a local Brooklyn dance studio for underprivileged children from the A5 Academy of the Arts in St. Martinville, Louisiana. The intensive will culminate with a performance by the aspiring dancers in the company’s eighth season.

Karen L. Arceneaux is the founder and director of the Genesis Dance Company, established in 2001. She is an instructor for The Ailey School and The Ailey Extension program and a teaching artist for Alvin Ailey’s Arts-in-Education Program.
